Mansour Ciss, Artist
My name is Mansour Ciss and I was born in Dakar. I have lived in Berlin since 1993.
I am a sculptor and textile designer and work with modern media.
In addition to my artistic work, I work in the field of intercultural work with children and young people in schools and leisure facilities.
I am a course instructor at Jugend im Museum e.V. and a speaker at Engagement Global gGmbH. I organise my events in Berlin schools in the context of the school programme Berlin – Bildung trifft Entwicklung BtE Berlin-Brandenburg.
In the context of this activity I conduct workshops. I teach children and young people to work with screen printing techniques and print their own T-shirts.
In my workshops children or adults are guided through the different areas of life and everyday life in Senegal.
In my work and especially in the context of my museum pedagogical work at the Berlinische Galerie and the National Museums in Berlin I teach children the history of Africa. The children get to know the life and traditions of another cultural area and I succeed in building a bridge between the two cultures – Europe and Africa.
